Weekly Update 3/20 – 3/26

Welcome back to The Rock Show, where it’s all about the music!

Sorry about not making a post yesterday, I totally forgot about it.

So, according to a post on Facebook, Anberlin is joining the billing for the 30 Seconds to Mars show at the Susquehanna Bank Center.  Sounds interesting – Anberlin just played at the Crocodile Rock not too long ago with Circa Survive and Foxy Shazam (take a look at the posting here).  Should be an interesting show – it’s on April 30.

Many bands are working on new music.  Incubus just finished their next album, which is just awesome.  No real information on the album yet, but I’m sure we’ll hear some stuff soon – hopefully get a single and a release date.  I would think that this will likely be a summer release, hopefully with a summer tour, but summer tour might be pushing it a bit.  We’ll see.  In addition, Paramore is reported to be working on new songs in Los Angeles for what is supposed to be their fourth album.  I know in the past they’ve said they might only do an EP or something, but a new full album would be great.  Lastly, Pearl Jam is having a busy year – what with the 20 year anniversary of Ten, Eddie Vedder’s upcoming solo album, Jeff Ament’s new band Tres Mountains, and all the other stuff they’re doing this year, they’ve said that they have demos for what they plan to be a new album.  How cool is that?  First the Foo Fighters, then Incubus, and now possibly Pearl Jam?  Those are three of the biggest names in modern rock music right now.  I’ll keep my eyes open.

The new Strokes album, Angles, just came out.  I previewed it, and it sounds pretty good.  It’s definitely more straightforward than First Impressions of Earth and a bit more accessible, but it’s not a replica of their first two albums.  I’ll probably wind up getting it at some point, but for me there’s really no hurry.

Ironically, on the air this past Sunday I mentioned not having any idea who the band Art of Dying is.  Turns out they have the free single of the week on iTunes this week.  What are the odds?  Also, another correction:  STP tickets went on sale this past Friday.  Get yours quickly!
