The Rock Show: Off the Air

Weekly Update 3/27 – 4/2

Filed under: Update — rockshowmusic @ 9:50 pm

Welcome back to The Rock Show, where it’s all about the music.

And so it begins.  Rush has officially kicked off the second leg of the Time Machine Tour tonight in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.  According to guitarist Alex Lifeson the show is the same from last year, but, to be fair, last year’s show was amazing.  Not to mention, this year they’re filming the show in Cleveland on April 15 for a live release.  The Hershey show is coming up quickly, so make sure any of you last-minute additions get your tickets now – the show’s on April 8 at the Giant Center.

Speaking of people touring, Eddie Vedder is hitting the Tower Theater on his solo tour on June 25.  Tickets go on sale this coming Friday, so don’t wait.  This is among a hundred other projects that the members of Pearl Jam are working on, by the way.  We’ve got the band’s 20-year anniversary and all the reissued albums coming out (Vs and Vitalogy came out yesterday), we’ve got Eddie’s solo album and tour, Jeff Ament’s band Tres Mountains, and a rumor of possibly another new Pearl Jam album.  Definitely a cool year to be a Pearl Jam fan.

The Foo Fighters have officially released the song “White Limo” as a single on Tuesday.  Honestly, I find it a bit too screamy for my tastes and definitely think “Rope” is better by far.  Still, it’s way too early to judge anything about the new album Wasting Light.  We’ve got two more weeks before the album is released – April 12 is the date, and I’ve already got my copy on preorder.  Waiting also on any word on a tour date somewhere near here, but instinct tells me something is coming – maybe after the album is released.  I can’t imagine them not touring the new album here in the US, so I’m sure we’ll get something.  It’s just a matter of when.  They have been playing shows in Australia recently, and the set list from their March 27 show looks pretty strong.
