Weekly Update 8/28 – 9/3

Welcome back to The Rock Show, where it’s all about the music!

The new semester has gotten underway, which means that the students will soon be returning to WLVR.  At the moment it’s looking like the middle of September will be when The Rock Show returns to the airwaves.  We’ll have to wait and see, and I’ll post more information when I know more.  This will be the fifth semester of The Rock Show, and the second-to-last one to boot.  Hard to believe I’ve been doing Lehigh Valley Radio for this long!

I want to do a bit of thought organization now, too.  I’m thinking of re-formatting the way I do blog posts.  The concert set list and review posts will be unchanged, as will the playlist posts when the show starts up again.  However, I’m thinking that instead of weekly updates with news, library updates, and the concert calendar, I’ll post news reports and things of that nature as I become aware of them.  That way I’m not batching a bunch of news stories together, and they become more up-to-date.  I’m thinking I’ll also do weekly updates that only consist of library updates and the concert calendar.  I’ll try that for now and see how it goes.  Maybe I’ll also try to categorize the posts.

As far as news updates are concerned, VersaEmerge seems to be making a lot of headway on their upcoming follow-up to last year’s Fixed at Zero, a great album.  Definitely a band worth looking into, and I’m certainly looking forward to a new release from them.  Rush has pushed the Time Machine DVD back further, this time to November 8.  They’ve also signed a new deal with Roadrunner Records, and they’ll be releasing a live album from the Time Machine Tour sometime in the near future on their new label.  Details for that are forthcoming.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers released I’m With You this week, and the album is worth looking into.  As a fan of later Chili Peppers over early Chili Peppers, I definitely prefer it.  Fans of old RHCP may not be happy with it, but they’ve had this kind of a sound for a while now.  The new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, adds quite a new sound on that end as well.

Also, congratulations to the Foo Fighters for winning the Best Rock Video VMA.  It’s about time they won!
