Welcome back to The Rock Show, where it’s all about the music!
It has come to my attention that Coheed & Cambria has a new song to debut! We had a sneak peek of some upcoming material back in March and April when they were touring the 10-year anniversary of Second Stage Turbine Blade – an acoustic performance of a song called “Iron Fist” was all over the web. Now it seems they have a new tune coming out on the Batman: Arkham City video game album that will be released on October 4. The song is titled, “Deranged.” What is not clear is if this is a song for the upcoming album hinted at by the band last month, or if it’s something strictly for the purposes of this soundtrack. Either way, it’s still a new Coheed tune, and I’m sure it’ll be a sign of where their sound is at the moment.
In addition, Pearl Jam played the PJ20 festival in Wisconsin this past weekend. Among other surprises (like a Temple of the Dog reunion with Chris Cornell), Eddie Vedder debuted a song he had written hours before the performance. He played it solo on his acoustic guitar. The question is, is this going to be an Eddie Vedder solo song or something new from Pearl Jam? Pearl Jam also talked about demos for a new album earlier this year, so it’s entirely possible that we’ll get some news on that front soon. Maybe this is a sign of things to come? I guess we’ll see.
