Back Off the Air! … And a Concert Listing, Too!

Welcome back to The Rock Show, where it’s all about the music!

Okay, I guess I have some splaining to do, huh?  Ever since The Rock Show ended in the spring of 2012, the blog seemed pretty irrelevant.  After all, there was no more Rock Show, so what purpose did the blog serve?  Over the past two years I’ve been just as active in following the music world, and in the meantime it’s been suggested to me that I keep the blog going.  So I’ve made a decision to rekindle the Rock Show blog.  This time there’s no affiliation with WLVR Bethlehem, nor is it a “professional” endeavor.  Which means I can talk about other radio stations and be a little less politically correct.  So there’s that.

What this means is that I’m going to try to keep this blog going with content about music.  Whether or not it follows a similar format to the past remains to be seen.

For my first post back, I’d like to talk about the fact that The Pretty Reckless and Adelitas Way hit the TLA on Saturday.  The Pretty Reckless is Taylor Momsen’s band, who released an album called Light Me Up back in 2011–if you remember, I ranked it as the #3 album of the year that year, and for good reason.  It kicks ass.  They also released a new album this year called Going to Hell.  Also a solid effort–I’d say it’s about equal to the debut release.  In between was an EP and a single, so they’ve had a pretty active couple of years.  On top of that, they’ve been getting some mainstream radio play in the Philly area now that WMMR has been playing “Heaven Knows” with decent regularity.

Their opener was Adelitas Way, a pretty standard hard rock band who’s been getting radio play here for a few years.  Frankly, I’m surprised that Adelitas Way opened for The Pretty Reckless and not the other way around, but I’m definitely happy about it.  Here are the set lists from the show, with the warning that I wasn’t there and cannot confirm accuracy:

Love the idea of them covering “Daughter.”  They’ve covered a number of awesome modern rock songs over the years, including Audioslave’s “Like a Stone” and The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

Head on over to YouTube for a whole bunch of videos from the show…excellent quality, too.  Here are a few:

Miss Nothing:
